the Israeli coalition is very fragile. i’d be surprised if it makes it to the Lapid rotation.

If that long. The only purpose of the coalition was to get Netenyahu out of office. Now they've done that and the criminal proceedings against him can begin. I don't know who the next leader of Likud will be but whoever it is has a good chance of forming a new government once this one collapses.

Where are all the Freepers who put Bibi down for congratulating Biden upon his election?

The Allies felt that the quickest way to shut down the camps was win the war. Reaching southwest Poland May have been a range problem too and the Russians steadfastly refused to allow our planes to land in their territory. Books have been Written about this I’m giving the very very short form.

Arguable, at best. Heavy bomber accuracy and range were mostly inadequate to the task. Stray bombs were likely to hit the camps even in a successful attack on the tracks. In addition, attacks in Eastern Europe were at the limits of US bomber range, which made for limited payloads and complicated, costly operations. Military considerations were definitively against such attacks, even if moral considerations might have argued for limited, demonstrative low level attacks by more accurate fighter bombers.

>> i’m sure Bibi and DJT are having verrrrrry interesting chats right now. <<

Trump unfriended Bibi on social media after he backstabbed him, so I doubt it.

He did not win the election so I guess they have their bunch of useful idiots over there too. It is an epidemic.

Yes, it seems global in reach.

Compare the raids over Schweinfurt for example.

The Schweinfurt raids basically put the 8th Air Force out of business for a couple months, because we lost so many planes.

FDR wouldn’t bomb the gas chambers either.

Mossad and other Israeli intelligence operations are mostly made up of Leftists. At least they’re disciplined by the need for national survival, which can’t be assumed.

“They could have let two small raids destroy the death camps/facilities, no matter the outcome.”

My namesake, who was my mother’s favorite cousin, was killed in the air over Europe. His mother, in Chicago, woke from a sound sleep to see him standing over her bed, and knew he was dead.

When we say “no matter the outcome,” we must think about the lives that were at stake. It is not easy to say to a man, “Go face death for the sake of those other people.”

Our military does that all the time, perhaps never so spectacularly as in WWII, but we still cannot be profligate with their lives.

Not saying that I necessarily agree with FDR—not a fan—but such a decision cannot be taken casually.
