I have instituted a policy at my businesses that phones stay out of the room during meetings. Period, end of story, no exceptions. For that exact reason. Also, we are working on awareness training for millennials - they don't come with filters.

That makes a lot of sense!

At my job in meetings some useless tokens pull out their phones and text/browse during meetings; it instantly tells me the meeting can’t be that important if they are doing this right in front of the boss that called it (and nothing is said about it).
