Wisconsin is very armed. And our hunters are very good. We have too many deer. Our cars and trucks kill far more than our riffles do. But wolves will pick off a child sooner or later. And a mountain lion will pick off a jogger. We already have coyotes living in Chicago and Milwaukee.
But I am not sure we don’t need the wolves and lions. Rabbits and deer are everywhere. Wild life rampant. Culling has to happen. And predators are required. Hawks eagles and owls can’t do it all.

I was born and raised in Wisconsin and go back annually for visits. Went up north last year to visit an old family homestead. The deer population in that area has been heavily culled by wolves, coyotes and bear (God forbid mountain lions take up residence). Cars, trucks and out of season hunting on the Rez are not helping either.
Some people in the area have taken to posting previously open land and fencing off land to keep two and four legged predators out. The fenced in areas seem to provide some security for the deer. At the homestead it is not uncommon to see one or two doe's with fawns living inside the fenced area around an old orchard. It is only a couple of acres that include the old house and barn. One family member went out and repaired the fence line when he started seeing the deer inside the orchard. Although wolves have been seen, they seem to stay out of the fenced off areas and the bear have yet to break down the fences. The deer leave before the fall. But return on and off, I am guessing when they are being pushed by predators. My family have always been avid hunters now they seem to be going the extra mile to protect dwindling herds. Where I live now Red Wolves are protected, coyotes are shot on sight and bear populations are heavily managed by the State. In fairness when everything is equal, the predators cull the sick and weak deer from herds, leaving the strongest and smartest to survive. Unfortunately, when you add people and development into the equation, everything is no longer equal.

There are approximately 30 some thousand car deer accidents in Wis.
Wis. Hunters kill hundreds of thousands of deer each year.
The two are no even close.

340,000 deer harvested in Wisconsin last year....you sure about that traffic kill count?
For car kills to just match that means one in 11 Wisconsin driving age citizens hit and killed a deer
I looked it up
One in seventy seven
Still quite high.....a top ten state for such occurrence
