Predator’s do each the old and sick but they also each any healthy animal they can catch.

The they only eat the old and sick is another myth.

Promoted by the anti’s and poor science.

I live in prime Wis. wolf country a normally see 6 to a dozen wolves a year.

I have seen more wolves the coyotes in some years

Wolves and Bears are apex predator. Coyotes are more opportunistic predators. A wolf pack can easily bring down a healthy deer. Predators do take out the sick, weak or underdeveloped deer which should theoretically weed out the gene pool leaving more robust animals. That does not mean predators only hunt weak or sick deer. You are correct that is a animal rights myth.

Where I live we hunt from Oct-Jan, we can take six deer per year, but only three does or spikes under 1 in. We have hunters who fill quotes in a week and we still have dead deer littering the roads in October and November. We see lots of coyotes, very few wolves and at least one bear during the season. Generally, one week before bear season and sitting on a corn pile. Can't shoot them on a bait pile since it is illegal to bait bears. With mild winters and only hunters as apex predators our deer population has risen rapidly.
