It’s my understanding that this is an option for families receiving the child care tax credit.

That credit has been raised to $3,600 for 2021. And families have the option of taking that credit as monthly payments rather than receiving the $3,600 as one big check.

I’m not about to wade thru IRS tax documents to discover the particulars because I’m too lazy.

This is true. But they also changed some requirements. There used to be a minimum income to qualify to get the credit. Now you can get the cash with zero income. You don’t have to work.
