virus is not a disease.
Vaccines have dispatched many diseases.
They have been working on flu shots to counter the flu for decades, with limited short term success.
This experimental drug is not the silver bullet to eliminate a flu like virus that 99.99998% of folks survive.
Small pox is a virus.
The very idea of a vaccine comes from the eradication of small pox because cow pox is the cousin of small pox, and a English doctor discovered that milk maids who had cow pox never got small pox.
Vacca is Latin for cow.
Vaccination. A cow method.
And only about 50% of the population get an annual flu shot.
Covid attacks the old and those with comorbidities. We should have placed our priorities on protecting those people and not instituted lockdowns. Masks don't work. Our public health policy re Covid was criminal. Fauci was a complete disaster. He needs to be held accountable. Covid was politicized and used to defeat Trump.
Nobody said that the new experimatal vaccines are a silver bullet (they are 95% at best). Nobody said they would eliminate the virus causing COVID (they won't). Nobody said 99.999 whatever survive. That's false. 99.8% of the total population survives based on the case mortality (now about 1%) and spread (dropping fast). Infection survival is very high. The CDC says 34% of Americans were infected which means the mortality is just 0.5% but we know it's less than that since mortality has been overestimated and CDC probably underestimated the spread.
I assume you understand that the virus causes the disease and that the virus, ike the flu viruses, are permanent. But there are natural reservoirs for new flu viruses, including manmade reservoirs like farms. There are also labs creating viruses. Some of those might be eliminated. I don't think it's possible to eliminate SARS-COV-2 though, now that it's everywhere.
