I get asked “do you work here?” too.
Equality discovers everybody treats everyone else badly.
Sanctimony over a non-virtue is not a good look. It does give people with low self-esteem a cheap sense of empowerment, but at the expense of everyone else.
I wish. My conservative district just this week voted to amend the state constitution to say “ rights won’t be abridged on account of race” as if they ever were.
The nimrods didn’t think about what that means to the leftists who run the state.
The Communist government that evolved out of the Soviet Union in the 1920s....went to something called ‘struggle sessions’ in villages, offices, factories, etc. The purpose was to get everyone to admit something and then you’d get into self-humiliation efforts....to humiliating your co-workers and associates.
Mao took the same avenue in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. This kept everyone busy....accusing each other and trying to capitalize on humiliation as a motivational tool.
It’s the same thing today....just the Americanized version of it.
I always answer “No, but I slept at a Holiday Inn.”
It forces people to admit to something they didn’t innately recognize. I doubt most people alive today were raised to be racist, but by calling it out as something that’s apparently “systemic,” it forces people who normally wouldn’t care to ask if they consider themselves racist. This just breeds distrust and self-destruction.
This woman should put a MAGA hat on and see how she is treated.
I’m White as a sheet, and people in stores have assumed I have worked there. Even though I’m in a senior position at my job, I dress down going to the store, so occasionally, if I’m wearing pants and a shirt, somebody will think I worked there. It’s rare, but it happens.
I guess I should be offended or something. At least I’m supposed to be, correct?
Some people just have a way of slipping in a version of “I feel like you’re disrespecting me” into every single interaction. I take it as a sign of low self-esteem. And I am not there to prop them up and feel respected.
I walked into a wally mart one day on my way home from work. I forgot to take my ID badge off, and had been working on machinery all day so I had on my shop clothes.
I must have been stopped 30 times walking to the auto department to get some window washer fluid. Towards the end I was sending the nicer people who started with excuse me or pardon me or some other polite phrase to the aisles they were looking for. The obnoxious ones got sent to garden department on the other side of the store with instructions to go out the rear entrance and re enter from the rear, as this was the quickest way to the aisle they were looking for ( actually only two got sent on this route, but they were obnoxious and demanding idiots)
An Affirmative Action physician by any chance? If she has any white patients, she probably takes her insecurities out on them by prescribing the wrong stuff. Like a muzzie dr would do to a Jewish patient.
“The moral bankruptcy of wokeness should lead to its demise, but the abject stupidity of it might just kill it off first.”
And therein lies the fault in saying wokeness is nearing an end. The American masses are morally bankrupt and abjectly stupid.
There are tons of reddit posts of “Do you work here?” Some of them are hilarious when the customer will not take no for an answer. My favorite is of a kid being harassed because the woman didn’t believe him. He was wearing khakis and a shirt, so obviously he worked there. She was yelling and threatening to get him fired, when another woman walked up. She told the upset woman, she was the manager and would take care of it. She turned to the kid and told him he was fired and to get out. The accuser smiled smugly..
The boy and the manager met in a different aisle. He told her he didn’t work there. The woman smiled and said, “I don’t either.”
I’d take it as a compliment.
My bet is they stopped you because you looked competent.
A normal response to “Do you work here?” would be to say “No, I don’t,” then look around to see if you can spot someone who does.
The Left pretends everything is fine. Things are not fine.
It is often hard to find a help in store nowadays. I confess, I have asked (politely) few persons this question. Frankly, I do not recall the race of those, but their race was not on my mind.
Thanks... but my only two job skills are being able to recognize a solution after being hit over the head with a 2x4 and being able to adjust my approach to a problem when my initial approach disagrees with reality.
