Do you recall the name of the movie with Kevin Costner and his rescue unit?

The Finest Hours.

Just so happens in 1975, Scituate, MA SAR station an ancient lifer 1st class Bosn, named Charlie Glass, told us the story because he was stationed at Chatham as a boot when that happened in ‘52. We all took it as a typical sea story. Then the movie came out a couple years ago and BM1 Glass was exact and spot on (except for the romance sub-story).

I also met the daughter of the author for the movie in a Home Depot in Lisbon, CT. She saw my USCG Retired hat and struck up the conversation.

I remember that one, but I was thinking of ole salt (Kevin Costner) training a recruit for SAR. It was called The Guardian and was based in Alaska.

Personally, I think all SAR units in any branch are real heroes.
