Dr. Anthony Fauci supports businesses choosing to leave mask mandates in place because the “issue,” he said, is that “we don’t have any way of knowing who is vaccinated.”
Fauci believes it is “perfectly reasonable and understandable” for businesses to keep mask mandates in place despite recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance relieving vaccinated individuals from wearing masks in most settings.
“The problem and the issue is that we don’t have any way of knowing who is vaccinated and who’s not vaccinated,” Fauci said during an appearance on Good Morning America.
“I think that’s where the confusion arises because there are some establishments who are saying, ‘Well, I’m going to have people coming into my establishment or my store or what have you. Some are going to be vaccinated, some are not. I’m not going to know the difference,’” he continued.
“Some might be infected and might actually have a risk of infecting someone else,” he added. “And under those circumstances, it’s perfectly reasonable and understandable for the owner of that establishment to say, ‘You know, we’re going to keep the mask mandate up.’ And that’s what we’re seeing”:
Some major retailers have, by contrast, lifted their hardline mask mandates following the CDC’s updated guidance, including Target and Walmart.
Target, for example, announced on Monday the end of its store policy requiring all customers to wear masks.
“Given the CDC’s updated guidance last week, Target will no longer require fully vaccinated guests and team members to wear face coverings in our stores, except where it’s required by local ordinances,” the company said in a statement, adding that it will continue to “strongly” recommend unvaccinated individuals to wear face coverings.

We have turned the corner. Fauci and them have begun the sputtering stage about the masks WITHOUT first putting the whole vax-passport thing in place. There is no turning back now.
I think the man needs to shut the ef up. 100% of the people in the hospitals now have had the vaccine. The guy is a jerk.

So, none of their business. Just end mask requirements and let people be responsible for their own actions—wear a mask if they want.

I guess it doesn’t matter that there is no evidence or Science demonstrating a diaper on your face will prevent the transmission of a respiratory virus? Never mind the evidence for the last 16 months of it not working
Knowing who is vaccinated is not an issue, if Fauxi et al are correct about masks. Anyone feeling vulnerable, or that they might get infected and be in contact with someone who is vulnerable, is free to wear a mask, to protect themselves. No one is saying someone cannot wear a mask, with no mandates to chose to do that.
Then again, if Fauxi et al are wrong about the importance of masks, then all their comments have just be about controlling behavior, not the pandemic and not “science”.
I want to see Fauci’s wife in a hijab.
I suppose if the masks end and people get on with their lives then Fauci will suffer the most by going back to being a faceless bureaucrat not being in front of the cameras 24/7.
If you’ve been vaccinated why do you care if someone else is not?
It would make the vaccinated folks feel a lot better if the unvaccinated folks were ordered to wear a yellow star—stock up on the yellow stars now and beat the rush!
My daughter, just 22, is doing an internship at a hospital.
I did NOT want her to get the vaccine because I really want grandchildren one day.
But she had no choice.

Everyone should wear a black band aid on their wrist that says Fauci.
It doesn’t matter.
Anyone can be vaccinated. Others can choose not to.
Everyone vaccinated is immune.
Unvaccinated choose to chance getting it and become immune that way.
No one has to experience anything they did not opt.

That is the point of vaccinations, to inoculate us from viruses. We didn’t ask companies like Target to be our nannies and determine what’s good for us.
