'It's an act of war against America ': Newt Gingrich calls for Biden to 'order KILLING' of those behind Colonial Pipeline hack
Daily Mail ^ | UPDATED: 07:33 EDT, 11 May 2021 | HARRIET ALEXANDER

Newt Gingrich on Monday night said Joe Biden should be authorized to 'order the killings of anybody overseas' who was found to be behind attacks on America's infrastructure, describing the cyberhack of the Colonial Pipeline as 'an act of war'.

Gas shortages were beginning to be reported across the East Coast on Monday evening, as the pipeline was slowly brought back on line after a four-day shutdown.

Hackers from DarkSide, a Russia-based network of cybercriminals, were said by the FBI to be behind the ransomware attack. On Monday they said they were mistaken to cause 'societal consequences', and only sought money. They said they would not target critical infrastructure again, and wanted no part in any geopolitical battles.

But Gingrich said that the United States needed more power to go after those responsible.

'On the national security part, we ought to pass a law immediately that makes this kind of hacking subject to a death penalty and the law should include a provision that the president, through a judicial process, should be able to order the killings of anybody overseas who is doing this,' he told Sean Hannity on Fox News.

'It's an act of war against the United States to do stuff like this.

'We need to react to it as an act of war, and the American people are going to look at their representatives and their senators and say, if you don't fix this, your successor will. I won't put up with it, and I won't put up with you if you don't fix it.'

Gingrich, 77, the former Speaker of the House, said it was pitiful that the U.S. was falling prey to such attacks.

I am pretty sure it isn’t china or Russia-

It’s those biden/his cohorts have gotten in with to teach us a lesson.

Any IT guys in charge of infrastructure could have headed this off.

This is about whipping our asses- showing us how weak we are and biden is at the helm,. only too happy the attention isn’t on his traitiouus son.

“You think you will stop quarantining and being weakened? Think again, you POSs who don’t want to be invaded by those who will bankrupt you and destroy you. Eat our sh!t while we laugh at you. It’s only just begun...”

Let me just play some mad dog from MSNBC:

Russian hackers!
Russia? Trump collusion! He was behind it!
And everyone who worked for him! And all the racist white supremacists that voted for him!

I see...

This time, it was the Ethical Hackers They only wanted to extort, not disrupt.

What’s this you speak of, they chose to shut it down?

They didn’t have to?

"Maybe if the CIA and NSA actually looked for foreign threats..."

How do we know they aren't behind it? Who benefits from it? Those individuals pushing green energy, and electric cars?

Sorry Newt, this is extremely stupid. If they are Russian nationals, how do you see this playing out? No escalation at all?

And if it’s not Russians, they will blame it on domestic white men, and you’re given them approval to start killing?

What of Iran, you’ve just signaled that killing is the appropriate retaliation for our hacking their centrifuges.

Exactly what I have been thinking. Biden, who is weak, has invited weakness. Peace through the Abraham Accords was reviving the Middle East, now with Biden the whole Mid East is in flames. Gas lines soon to be runaway inflation...and not even 6 months have passed. But yeah, Biden’s poll numbers are 99% approval.

What a mess.

Stealing the election was an ‘act of war’. This is a skirmish in comparison.

NEWT: “If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I have no money I’m going to give you. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let the pipeline go now, that’ll be the end of it”.

People without question will die because of this. So yes, it’s an act of war.

i don’t know pipelines from Adam and maybe this is a stupid question but ok i’ll bite:

i mean the suez canal was shut off by a supertanker blocking the canal itself. nothing to do but unblock the supertanker.

but in the old days they had pipelines right? with no computers right?

so, how is it possible to stop the physical flow and distribution of a material (for days and shutdown a whole region of the country) from a pipeline with a mere computer hack?

aren’t there mechanical backups, fail safes, alternate/manual valves and procedures in case of failed computers?

what if the grid went down? would the same thing happen? i just don’t get any of this, yet. but it stinks of people who have become so dependent on computers that they can’t act without them.

The FBI is so quick to point the finger at Russia for everything. Putin has to be laughing knowing he has a number of high ranking American officials compromised and on his payroll!

I have no idea if Russia or Russians are behind this. Maybe so, maybe not. I do know I now have little faith in anything the FBI has to say on the matter. But, does anyone else remember when we ‘let’ Russia/USSR steal pipeline control software only to have it cause a big explosion?
