To: Lonesome in Massachussets

Is that the famous Vic Wertz blast from the 1954 World Series? It was Willie Mays’ greatest catch for sure. But what people forget it was the old New York Polo Grounds. In any other park, he would have run out of playing field and it would have been deep into the Centerfields seats.

Yes, it was the Vic Wertz blast. The fact that it was the Polo Grounds gave him scope to show his greatness. Jack Bradley Jr. is probably the best fielding outfielder I have ever seen, but he does not approach Willie Mays in offensive output. Bradley and Mookie in the outfield were a special treat to watch.
