At some point everyone has to put their trust in the competency of some professional whose services they need - be that an attorney, a physician, a plumber, a mechanic, etc.. It’s really difficult for anyone to oversee and scrutinize all off the actions of the professionals they hire.
When your life and freedom are on the line, you pick the best available lawyer to take your case. In this matter, Chauvin did not chose the best representation.
Chauvin did not have incompetent counsel or inadequate counsel, he simply did not have the greatest counsel.
