I am a small business owner and am now needing to hire. There is a labor shortage due to current government policies. Lots of people applying so they can say on their unemployment they were looking for work. Lots of ghosted interviews lately, fools they all are. Why?
I wouldn’t hire the shiftless to begin with. I added a screening question to my application: What did you do during the 2020 pandemic? They have to answer 3 questions in written form before getting to the application. It has stopped a lot of the nonsense applications. It doesn’t really matter a lot how they answer this particular question, just that they answer it.
For me? What did I do? I became Level 3 Certified Fear Free, wrote a successful book on animal behavior, was certified as a training partner and more. Retooled my company for the recovery etc. Like I said, I don’t really care ‘how’ they answer...just tell me what one did.
But on any given interview when one asks a POC where they see themselves in 5 years, they have no plan, no answer. Biden is right to an extent. They are behind the 8 ball, but not from 400 years of history or even the era of Jim Crow. Is it their own life-style choices? Absolutely, but it is also their rejection of the culture and society they find themselves in. It is their unwillingness to assimilate into American society, unlike other immigrants who chose to come here and have succeeded by and large.
The last 60 years has seen great strides into making sure there is opportunity, but they reject it and offer nothing of value as a replacement. It is like the child that rejects the strawberry shortcake because it isn’t chocolate and then cries because they have no cake.

PAY MORE. GET IT? There is no such thing a labor shortage, only a wage shortage.

You sound like a squeaky liberal whining about wages, wonder why you are even on FR at this point.
I would say there is a model for families that can work if everybody plays their role. But that’s as far as it goes.
people build up their lives...
it takes a grandfather and mother socking away money for their grandkids college...it takes a mother and father married and working together to raise children up properly...
no teenage babies by multiple partners...
it takes an active spiritual life...
it takes networking with others..oh no, white people....
education a priority...
look at the legit immigrants to this country....that is how they did it...lived all together....pitched in....made education a priority...worked menial jobs and saved money....
