Yes, the idea being that the seat of the federal government should not be in a position where it can be held hostage to the immediate needs or politics of a state where it resided.
I’ve stayed in Georgetown a number of times and it was very nice....40 years ago!
DC already has too much power. Every member of Congress is charged under the constitution with representing DC.
Georgetown, Kalorama, Cleveland Heights, Capitol Hill.... these are all very nice areas. Everything along 14th Street north from the White House (and east and west off 14th) is very rapidly improving as is the area around Gallaudet. Far over on the east side, past Nationals Stadium and the old Navy Yard, is still pretty iffy but that will change too.
The Founders wanted to avoid what Rome was to the Roman Empire with the spectacle of Rome, and what that was.
EVERYTHING orbited around Rome and what the city wanted.
Pompeii had a major inferiority complex.
Treat Washington DC like the founding fathers intended. IT is the capitol of the United States. Let us keep it that way. No to DC statehood!
