I think we all know, the Democrats are eager to make DC a state, to get two new Democrat senators in perpetuity.
If there weren’t a political angle here, where Democrats would benefit politically, they wouldn’t be pushing this.

DC should have no permanent population -- only gubmint bldgs, embassies, museums, and hotels.
Failing that, DC should be given to the already-****ed state of Maryland.
Failing that, DC should have no votes -- no one has a gun to their head to live there (just after they move there).

Regardless of which neighborhood that is, things are rapidly changing in DC. One run-down neighborhood after another is being gentrified. Young professionals are teeming over The District. It is, after all, where the jobs are right now. The working poor (overwhelmingly black) are being pushed out as they can’t afford the new housing costs. It is still and will probably always be overwhelmingly Democratic voting though.

Yes, but Obama is also prohibited from being President and Harris is prohibited from being VP.
The Constitution ceased to be relevant when ALL of our elected and appointed swore in the ineligible Kenyan/British subject/Indonesian.

I thought part of DC was donated to the Federal Government by the State of Virginia ...Originally it was, but Virginia took it back and that is basically Arlington County today.
