“”Teenagers have been having fights involving knives for eons,” tweeted Bree Newsome, a prominent defund-the-police activist. “We do not need police to address these situations by showing up to the scene & using a weapon against one of the teenagers. Y’all need help. I mean that sincerely.””
I somehow managed to make it through my teen and adult years without ever being in a knife fight. What did I do wrong?
Perhaps you did not have an inborn hair trigger temper.
it was not a knife fight.

I made it through half a century without being in a knife fight... I am either doing something wrong, or really really right.
Note, we did play “chicken” with other kids, where we stand a yard or two apart, and throw pocket knives at each others feet (taking turns, of course). We usually wore boots, but sometimes tennies. If you pulled your foot back, you were ‘chicken’ and lost. I think that was about it.
Of course, we also played tackle football, full contact basketball, two-below football in the street with cars passing through our ‘field’ and of course JARTS! (aka lawn darts).
Somehow, there was no racism back then, and far fewer gunfights amongst my peers (meaning, I can’t think of a single one).
