United Methodist Church leaders (conservatives) file to create new denomination, the GMC

America's third largest Christian denomination – the United Methodist Church – is splitting as conservative pastors aim to create a new denomination that will adhere to traditional biblical teachings.

Methodist church leaders have formed a new denomination – called the Global Methodist Church (GMC) – and filed for formal separation from the UMC over the latter's growing acceptance of modern teachings on sexuality and gender.

"In the United States, particularly, some bishops, clergy, and churches are operating in open defiance to the teachings of the United Methodist Church," said Keith Boyette, president of the conservative Wesleyan Covenant Association and spokesperson for the GMC. "The Church has become ungovernable as a consequence, such unchecked defiance has destroyed the integrity of the Church."

Boyette said the mission of the GMC will be "to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly."

The GMC filed for separation from the wider denomination on March 1 but has yet to hear back from UMC leaders on formally approving the split.

Working with the Wesleyan Covenant Association, the GMC said in a statement that it had created a working group in 2018 and held a conference in 2019 to explore these issues and see if there was a way to reconcile "issues that have deeply divided the UM Church for decades."

There are two religious factions, sodomy and non-sodomy. These factions cut across denominational lines and even the lines of formal religions.

The sodomy faction spreads not through conventional missionary effort, but by infiltrating and subverting existing institutions. And not just or even primarily churches.

They already have the public schools and a sizable fraction of the private ones. Major corporation, etc

Anything with “Global” in its description is doomed for destruction.

Any church groups which allows the ordination of women in leadership is decidedly UNconsevative and is doomed to apostasy. It is spitting in the eye of sound doctrine.

And conservative congregations which join themselves to such a harlot through affiliation are just as culpable.

I don’t care for the name either. However, they had to pick something that hadn’t been taken and put under some kind of registration or copyright...whatever they do with names.

It starts before sodomy. I would say putting women in church leadership. Women aren’t bad. It’s just a matter of the church saying “We know it says that but Scripture is wrong”. That’s why PCUSA just changed the verses in their pew Bibles to match their policies.

I hoped that at least 2/3 of UMC members would be conservative and that, if the liberal members don’t like it, they’d leave and form a liberal church.

Oh NO! I was hoping to visit my cousin in Virginia, and have a family reunion. I am telling mom.

And who does the legal system represent, if not us?

We have to stop excusing stuff like this and start figuring out how to take charge.

Unless it’s too late to save our churches (and our country), that is.

This split into 2 or more denominations seemed like a good way to fix things. The progressives have lied, as usual and are going after everything in my opinion.

There is no honor with them, imho, so the only recourse is legal maneuvers.

I would leave the denomination with huge building debt since they claim to own the buildings, and start up a new church in a school or empty building.

They’ll never get out of an auction the value of a building in most cases, so it’s likely they might make a reasonable deal.
