I just don’t think he’s bright enough to understand what a rare treasure our self-governing Republic is, or to comprehend the Founding Fathers’ warnings regarding its fragility.

There has never been a true self-governing Republic before the USA, because it requires placing strict limits on government authority - and strict protection of individual rights.

Very few among the rich and powerful are able to resist the temptation to use government to enhance their power and wealth. They seek to use their power and wealth to influence and empower the government to work on their behalf.

The Constitution stands in the way of these would be tyrants, so they resent it.

George Bush probably thinks he loves his country - but he is too dumb and too wealthy to have any clue of what is at stake. Personally, he has nothing at stake - he is rich enough to be insulated from the tragic consequences of socialism.

I know, there are plenty of wealthy people (like Trump) who understand the importance of individual liberties and the Constitutional limits on government. But these people (like Trump) are wealthy AND intellegent.

Being rich and stupid like GWB and his father - that is a dangerous combination.
