It is hard to find any good news for Derek Chauvin tonight.
He can hope that today's action will forestall the need for President Biden to unleash the FBI on him and new, federal charges.
If Chauvin can later get a higher court where the judges aren't controlled by the media to review the case - he might get the state persecution eventually overturned, or a new trial.
He (Chauvin) can pray - like the rest of us - that in four years there will be new leadership at the so-called Justice Department.
Chauvin’s first task is to stay alive while in the custody of Minnesota politicians.
