Disinfo: Poland is openly leading a coup in Belarus

Summary

Poland is openly leading a coup in Belarus. The massive protests that gripped Belarus after the presidential elections are causing concern in the West. At the same time, Polish politicians are the most active in commenting on the events in the neighbouring country. Poland initiated a discussion to overthrow Lukashenko at the EU level. On August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus which Alexander Lukashenko won. Western countries, for which the Belarusian leader had been a hindrance for a long time, did not put up with the voting results. As a result, pre-planned riots broke out in Belarus.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Belarus. Reports that Poland is allegedly "preparing a coup d'etat" in Belarus appeared after the presidents of Lithuania and Poland, in an appeal to the Belarusian authorities, called for respecting democratic standards and stopping violence and repression against participants in mass protests. On August 10, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also initiated an emergency EU summit for August 14. Ministers reiterated their repeated call to the Belarusian authorities to stop the disproportionate and unacceptable violence against peaceful protesters and to release those detained. The Ministers reiterated that the elections were neither free nor fair. The European Union considers the results to have been falsified and therefore does not accept the results of the election as presented by the Belarus Central Election Commission. The countries of the European Union have nothing to do with the mass protests in Belarus: rallies of thousands broke out after Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled for 26 years, declared that he had “won a convincing victory” in the elections. The current protests in Belarus began on the evening of August 9: to disperse the protesters, the security forces use rubber bullets, flash grenades, tear gas, shockers and water cannons. On the day of voting, the centre of Minsk was blocked by security forces, communications and the Internet was jammed in the city. International observers were not allowed into Belarus, voters' access to polling stations was artificially restricted and independent journalists and civil activists were massively detained during the voting period.

LOL. Would Poland actually have the wherewithal to do this?

Your post is misleading, because your other link said Putin says the U.S. is behind the coup. Poland couldn't force the U.S. into this.

Only Russia would have the ability to generate a coup in Belarus.

Do you not grasp the concept of disinformation?

NATO is doing all they can to provoke Russia, and then pretend it was Russia who first lashed out.

I am so sick of these people.

Poland and Lithuania are harboring a tongue-tied cooking blogger, making the ridiculous claims that she won the presidential elections in Belarus and the actual president is illegitimate.

We are at Level 3 out of 5? Looking at the page and a few examples of well past events, that seems high. It’s the same(?) as 911? But, we really need some context. What has the level been the last few months? Or during President Trump’s term?

Lukashenko gets 80% in every election. Hmmm...

However, his latest significant Presidential campaign opponent was Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, a former English teacher and interpreter. It was her husband Sergei with the rep as a blogger. He was arrested & jailed, precluding a run by him for Pres.

My guess is that Mrs. Tsikhanouskaya was accepted by the opposition on the basis that maybe the state police would not beat her up and arrest her. Not that such is a qualification to be president of even a pickle republic like Belarus.

80% is far off, but I am sure he would have won fair. If not 50%+,it was 100% above any opposition.

“Other sources saying our own CIA involved.”

I am sure the CIA has had some successes and we have never heard about them. Under the current leadership, it’s unlikely there will be any successes, unless they are trying to do something that will leave the US at a disadvantage. (Like Obama who tried to work with China to develop a basket of currencies to undermine the dominance of the dollar. Yeah, that really happened because...America bad.) I am certain there are competent CIA people*. However, as the focus is shifted to creating equality and putting lots of minorities in various positions, I can see a black being taught Russian and sent over there to blend in.

* Political movements are like a hurricane. The hurricane itself is not what needs to be focused on. It’s the gigantic difference in temperatures and pressures that creates the hurricane that are important. I get the feeling that liberals are focused on the wrong thing; instead of realizing what is causing the unrest they are focused on the unrest itself. That is going to be a waste of time and lives while they try to achieve instant success so they can move on to the next big thing. Getting the desired political result would be a ten or twenty year project and US politics isn’t capable of that kind of attention.

Good for Poland opposing despots who steal elections. Maybe after they are done with Belarus they can help us.

Not sure Americans are in any position to point fingers at other countries regarding election irregularities as there seems to be a long tradition of election rigging right here in the United States.

The travesty “here” does not diminish the travesty “there”. Now, if you’d said those causing or supporting the travesty here are hypocritical, THAT, yes, I agree with 100%!

Perhaps, but, the rigging should be a disqualifier, then choose from who’s left.

It is not a sporting competition and unfair towards voters. Why should they get an idiot with 8% only because someone decided that 80% looks better than 58%?

Aside from the fact that the idiot (in your opinion) / opposition may have actually received 42% or thereabouts, the rigging itself HAS to be a disqualifier, or why even bother having a vote or pretending that the people’s voice is of any consequence. The rigging itself demonstrates that the riggers are utterly untrustworthy. As are ours, as well. Plus, they have no confidence in their people. This is a recipe for widespread bloodshed in the future, as ours is looking more and more like, also.

Perhaps not, it certainly diminishes the point you're trying to make.
