That's its shadow. There are 2 frames from the rover mid air, full video should come tomorrow.

Mars has air?

Without it I don’t think a helicopter would work at all.

An atmosphere? Yes. Air? No. It’s very thin.

Mostly CO2, but yes, Mars has air.

This video shows just the flying part and after, easier to find now than the live feed.

IDK if posting twitter links has been banned or if some variety of FReep opinion decided the place was “persona non grata”, but here goes in case it is only the latter.

NASAJPLs account is really hoppin:

A red-letter day on the Red Planet! #MarsHelicopter

Success!

What a shame to see these young healthy people double masked.

First thing I said also, only I was not so gracious in my comment.

Was nice to go to the local hardware store yesterday and see everyone - including the employees - MASK FREE!

I can see your face and your smile - :) :) :)

What a shame to see these young healthy people double masked.

Likely vaccinated too. Jerks are doing the country harm.

As for the flying couldn’t they use a better camera? Disappearing mid-flight and landing. UFO quality.

Next, what I think is cool is that all the recent near future Mars movies did not have drones. They had to take rovers to explore (look for water, etc...) and then almost die. If they had drones half of their problems would disappear overnight.

It’s going to take a day to get the full video/pics. Kind of like how the landing video took awhile to download.
