Isn’t covid unusual, different from common flu strains, by destroying the senses of smell and taste? Sincerely asking, don’t know.

Anosmia, the loss of smell, is a key indicator of a bug going around. Smell returns in about 9 days.

However, no one I know who has had Anosmia has tested positive for COVID.

The COVID tests are also a joke. People with all the supposed symptoms test negative and people who are not sick at all test positive.

Not really. The loss of taste/smell in an artifact of zinc depletion.

Zinc get used up fighting viral infections (is secreted as part of the debris from the fight).

This can happen with any viral infection, if the viral load is high enough.

The common cold does that to me, as I've had my share through my life. However, it doesn't actually destroy the senses and neither does Covid or the Flu. They return once you're well again.

Simple reason is all the mucous that builds up in the nasal and sinus passages. It's common knowledge for decades that you have to be able to smell to taste. Hold your nose and eat something - try it and you'll see.

Yes.

And the persistent effects are different than a cold or flu. My 25 year old daughter is being worked up for a pace maker after getting the COVID and my wife has persistent heart and neurological symptoms.

Both my son’s recovered but my older son couldn’t smell coffee for about 6 weeks.

Definitely something different from the flu or a cold.

Happens often when you catch the common cold. Which, incidentally, about 30% of are caused by other coronaviri.

Loss of smell and taste are symptoms of a zinc deficiency.
