Under the German Fascist model, the means of production were still privately “owned”, but the owners were told what to do and how by Government, under threats of force against individuals, right down to the local level.
Socialism was the opposite; the government took actual ownership of the means of production. Owners, if they survived, became mere employees of the government.
Neither one works. They both quickly devolve into “management by political favoritism”, (in lieu of free-market meritocracy), which is the best recipe for failure in the long run since the 17th century “royal patent” system.
