Taken together, the groups allow Trump to exert maximum influence over the party and its direction in not just the coming months but future years. And while the groups’ main goal will, undoubtedly, be to position to Trump to walk to the 2024 Republican nomination if he decides to pursue it, there are other reverberations — whether planned or not — from what is happening here.
The establishment wing of the Republican Party, with McConnell at its head, is trying to move along from Trump. McConnell slammed Trump for his role in the January 6 US Capitol riot (although he voted against convicting Trump on impeachment charges over his role). An outside group aligned with McConnell just endorsed Murkowski in Alaska.
The problem with that is two-fold: 1) Trump has zero interest in being moved on from and 2) The GOP base still sees Trump as its unquestioned leader.
The construction of Trump Inc. in the political space is evidence that the former President (and his many minions, hangers-on and family members) are not only in this for the long haul but have absolutely no problem in building an infrastructure designed to marginalize the establishment’s pillars of influence. What Trump is doing will force many major donors (and plenty of small-dollar donors too) to decide between giving to Trumpworld or the RNC as well as the various other establishment groups and committees that have always been the vessels through which conservative money flows.
And that is a BIG problem for the Republican establishment.

That may be great for many of us. But then ‘the party’ will essentially be split in two and we’d lose every election.
The GOP needs new candidates. If they can’t beat them in their own party, what makes you think they can win while running in a different party?
Ummm. Clearly you guzzled the GOP kool aid.
2? Yeah right one with 5% of the GOP and he other 95% America First + disaffected working class.. LOL.
Keep the GOP and guarantee losing or form a new party with a great chance of success? Hmmm. What to do...
Clearly you are still stuck on propagating far left propaganda and Dem talking points as usual. Not that you’ve convinced conservatives here about anything after years of trying.
Fake l, nonsensical figures from your usual CNN source?
So if you had a choice between a Democrat, Republican or an America First candidate who would you vote for?
There is no America First Party, let alone one that has the support of 95% of Republicans.
Next?
And...Einstein has nothing to do with the politics of the Republican Party today.
You think the ratio of patriots to GOP hacks is less than 90-10%?
You are an establishment enabler and it will be good when the moribund 70+ Y.O. i.e. old school Republicans die off.
Did you even read your link before you posted it?

Trump has an unheard of job approval of 90+%.
You are a long established Dem Party propagandist and disinformation operative here on FR. Despite years of trying you are yet to move any conservatives here in your direction.
Thank God for that.
Trump (America Great Again ) is 95% + 41% independents = new party!!
Which has exactly nothing to do with any “America First” Party.
We are waiting for an answer...
President Trump had a very strong approval with Republicans yes.
The same President Trump just rubbished the very idea of forming his own party. You may want to pay attention.
