Taken together, the groups allow Trump to exert maximum influence over the party and its direction in not just the coming months but future years. And while the groups’ main goal will, undoubtedly, be to position to Trump to walk to the 2024 Republican nomination if he decides to pursue it, there are other reverberations — whether planned or not — from what is happening here.
The establishment wing of the Republican Party, with McConnell at its head, is trying to move along from Trump. McConnell slammed Trump for his role in the January 6 US Capitol riot (although he voted against convicting Trump on impeachment charges over his role). An outside group aligned with McConnell just endorsed Murkowski in Alaska.
The problem with that is two-fold: 1) Trump has zero interest in being moved on from and 2) The GOP base still sees Trump as its unquestioned leader.
The construction of Trump Inc. in the political space is evidence that the former President (and his many minions, hangers-on and family members) are not only in this for the long haul but have absolutely no problem in building an infrastructure designed to marginalize the establishment’s pillars of influence. What Trump is doing will force many major donors (and plenty of small-dollar donors too) to decide between giving to Trumpworld or the RNC as well as the various other establishment groups and committees that have always been the vessels through which conservative money flows.
And that is a BIG problem for the Republican establishment.

That’s what the article is talking about. Trump’s apparent plan is to work to get actual conservatives elected, and to oust corporate-crony RINOs.
A big part of that involves getting a handle on campaign finances.
GOP = moribund losers....
That horse left the barn, years ago.
The pubbie organizations know this and the good ones are with Trump, the rest can go straight to hell.
Perhaps instead of building a shadow GOP, he should simply form and promote the Patriot Party and break clean with the GOP.
You have a point there... the Constitution Party is already there and available to support.
Patriot bump.
I hope that’s not true. The GOPee is a walking infection full of cowards and backstabbers. Time to move on.
Exactly. The modern GOP is nothing more than a wannabe “getalong gang.”
Is Trump a loser?
Sorry if your backbone is as weak as over cooked pasta.
Go over to the other side, and you will be more comfortable being in a party of "winners".
Goodbye you loser.
Uhhhh... immediate past presidents are usually accorded the distinction as being “head of the party” until such time as the party nominates their next candidate. That’s the way the Media has always portrayed the situation until Trump. So now they want to say Mitch McConnell is the party head? Ok, but think about that. He was narrowly elected & re-elected by the citizens of Kentucky only. No matter what we think about McConnell’s politics he is still just a senator, and Nancy Pelosi is just a member of the House.
Move on to where?
Can you point to any political party in any country that doesn’t have disagreements and internal fights?
THIS JUST IN Polls: Joe Biden’s Migration Flips Swing Districts to GOP

Biden’s costly pro-migration policy is so unpopular that it is flipping multiple congressional swing districts towards GOP candidates, according to two polls funded by the Heritage Foundation.
For example, 55 percent of swing-voting independents blame Biden for the migrant wave, 48 percent said it would make them less likely to vote for a Democrat, and 67 percent oppose the removal of the border wall, according to the two polls, each of 1,200 people. That is good news for GOP candidates because GOP voters overwhelmingly blame Biden and support the border wall.
The two polls of 1,200 likely voters were conducted by OnMessage Inc., which works for many establishment GOP groups and candidates. One poll tracked voters’ answers in 15 key congressional districts. The other poll tracked voters’ answers in 19 swing suburban counties.
But the polls largely dodged hot-button questions about the impact of migration on Americans’ jobs, wages, and housing costs. Instead, the questions provide campaign talking points for GOP politicians who want to denounce Biden’s migration policy — without promising to back the beneficial immigration reforms that are opposed by the GOP’s major donors or local business leaders.

I agree the Republican Party could certainly fail, it’s better than 50/50 that it will....
What options do we have....
Form a new party or take over the existing party....I’m open to any other options...
IMO, the best chance we have is taking over the current party...Trump proved it’s possible to some degree, he defeated the Bush dynasty, he defeated the Clinton dynasty, DeSantis is Governor because of him...
If Trump decides to take over the Republican Party versus forming a new party, then a new party has little to no chance of success....
If the Republican Party fails, major parts of it will still exist and could be used to rebuild, much like someone taking over a failed business but suffered from terrible management, new management comes in and turns it around, it happens every day in business, it can happen in politics...
The Trump HR department keeps making boob endorsements.
Marco Rubio is not an America First choice. Here in Florida
he can be beaten easily in a primary.
Rand Paul is MCConnell’s junior Senator, endorsed McConnell
and now he is to be relied on to force him out,
If Trump’s moves are his Chess game’s opening moves to take
control of the party, I don’t see the endgame.
Wrong never again will we let that happen.Trump will be back.
You want to bet in less than 4 year it still business as usual for the GOP of losers???
Um so what?
Just keep talking nonsense.
No new party but will fix the old one.
