Sad to watch. There was a report out awhile back that the shooter said he was afraid she might have explosives or weapons in her backpack. I can’t tell on the video if he even had a good look at her backpack.
There were three or four capitol police in back of Ashli who could have asked to see inside the backpack. They did nothing, even when Helmet guy finished breaching the window and went down the steps, through the gaggle of cops standing around, and proceeded to change his clothes to go blend into the crowd.
