Every single morning with very few exceptions I have a container of Siggi's 9% milkfat yogurt, usually with berries or nuts swirled in. Along with three eggs fried in butter.
For lunch, I will usually have a tin of sardines or oysters packed in olive oil. Along with a handful of unsalted nuts (i.e. almonds, cashews, walnuts).
Dinner is always at least 8 ounces of meat or fish. Preferably pasture raised or grass fed. (Wild caught for fish). Along with salad (with no dressing but olive oil) and a vegetable like brussells sprouts, broccoli, sweet potato or squash.
Snacks will be things like nuts, dark chocolate, or raisins.
Occasionally I'll have pizza. I really like pizza. But I'll not have it with a bunch of toppings. Garlic and clams are my favorite toppings. (You can actually get clam pizza in Connecticut and it's quite good).
Don't forget coffee, beer and wine. All good for you despite what the "experts" say.
Sounds like a Mediterranean diet. I like it. But doesn’t it get boring every morning?
Don’t forget your 9 raisins soaked in gin
No garlic? No mushrooms?
Garlic and clams on pizza. I must try that.
I like anything with clams...chowder, both styles, linguine with clam sauce, or just
on the half shell.
San, I have pretty much followed the same type of eating. I really believe that staying away from doctors is the healthiest thing one can do to stay well. As a wee child I had all the childhood diseases. After that I’ve never has “a doctor”, never had the flu or vaccine. For a period of time I had a GP to check me every 6 mo. He kept telling me I had high Colestoral and was going to stroke out if I didn’t take the Statins. I went on carb free diet and went back in 6 mo and my blood check had risen. I never took the Statin. He kept fussing and I kept saying, “I’ll see you in 6 mo. In 2020 I saw no doctor. I am a very healthy 87 yr old woman who walks a lot and is never sick. I’m still independent and live alone. I am blessed. I’m glad you are too.
your ideal diet is very similar to mine.
lots of eggs, fish (fatty fish including sardines, anchoves, salmon, mackerel), high fat yogurt or kefir without sweetener. Some cheese including brie and blue or hard cheeses. Love oysters, also eat some shrimp, pork steak.
I eat some mixed berries and a fair amount of dark chocolate, sometimes red wine
The advice to avoid dietary cholesterol is the biggest myth in my opinion. Healthy fats is better advice
Tried a Pickle Pizza yet? With pineapple ?
You sound like a contender for them.
I eat a lot like you do.
Also real big on Green Tea - first morning cup with apple cider vinegar.
