The National Guard was deployed in Minneapolis as hundreds of people looted and rioted into the early hours Monday after a black man was shot dead while trying to flee arrest less than 10 miles from where George Floyd died.
The fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center came as the Twin Cities was already in a state of high alert over the trial of ex-cop Derek Chauvin, charged with Floyd’s murder last May.
Wright, who had an outstanding warrant, had been pulled over around 2 p.m. Sunday — and was shot after jumping back in his car and trying to race away, crashing to a stop after driving several blocks, police said.
His mother had quickly raced to the scene — and called for calm as crowds soon joined her there, local media said.
But within hours, at least 500 protesters had taken to the streets, according to the Star Tribune — many looting and trashing up to at least 20 stores, officials later revealed.

See post 8 for pic.
So far I have yet to see what the outstanding warrant was for.
and they wonder why stores are not opening in “underserved areas”....
Riots by the locals—that is why.
In the video I saw, the Black man was in military uniform, hands up, very polite. He was stopped on “suspicion” when driving too slow. He was not trying to get away, did not pull a weapon. Could have been selective editing by the criminal media. But if it wasn’t, the shooting seemed mistaken and very sad. Riots are another thing altogether.
looks mulatto.
Quite simply, their lives do not matter to me.
The cop who shot him went to prison for five years. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
Yes, this one doesn’t sound good from what I’ve heard so far. No, rioting ins’t the answer but some sort of police reform is (that doesn’t include defunding the police and socialism) imo.
His mother identified him as white.
He had a newer SUV with illegally tinted windows and no visible tags where they were supposed to be. He taped the tags in the tinted rear window, which couldn’t be seen. So they pulled over what sure looked like a stolen vehicle with heavy tint.
He refused 17 times to exit the vehicle. They finally got him out. Took a while.
They ID’d him, told him he had a warrant. He said he neded to get something from the car, started to go back in. They told him not to. He got in and took off.
No air freshener mentioned. That was supposition on his part early on.
That is apparently exactly where this is headed.
Criminals now have the power to veto their own arrest and if you think they shouldn’t have that power, you’re a White Supremacist.
FWIW, I mentioned this on another thread, but that vehicle is a 2020 or 2021 Chevy Tahoe. Those come with surprisingly dark factory tint. If you google the model and look at the pictures, you’ll see what I mean. I’d wager with the factory tint, a tag likely can’t be seen through the back window particularly at night.
Over the last decade, I’ve noticed factor tints have been getting darker and darker.
Is there a link to the video?
There goes another plunge in Minneapolis real estate market values. Folks should have sold the house after the first riot to cut their losses. Each successive riot there will mean another hit on real estate values. So much for home improvement projects. Home Depot should leave Minneapolis. They have better markets in red states to play in
“Apparently Daunte Wright was white”
They wouldn’t be rioting if he was white.
Real estate is very simple.
If any of your neighbors are prone to rioting (for _any_ reason, no matter how justified), you need to get out of there....
Because in the real world stuff happens, and you do not want rioting in your neighborhood.
“His mother identified him as white”
So, black cop shoots white kid? What’s the problem? I would think they would be celebrating in Minneapolis rather than rioting.
Of course. 🙄
Join the chorus of anti police, anti vaccine, anti Trump of FR! Oh! And Q anon headquarters 🥴
Such a delightful place 😣
They are not rioting - yet.
They are looting.
