depends on what they just replaced them with.
the SC gop is relatively high performing. blindly replacing them by people that think lin wood is an icon is potentially a problem. period.
Possibly. The article doesn’t say anything about her other positions.
the cliques and the cocktail parties in the GOP in Greenville are amazing.
If you aren’t part of the landed gentry, you aint part.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Doesn’t surprise me. All the people like that gotta go.
You are so right about the establishment Repubs doing little or nothing to thwart the left. I thought for years that, based on the quality of who was being nominated by the GOP, the ptb’s were incompetent, corrupt, or both. Bob Dole is a great American, but had NO chance to win the presidency. John McCain had virtually no chance to win the presidency. Mitt could have won, but it didn’t appear that he wanted to work hard enough to do so. All the ones the establishment pushed against Trump were the usual squishes who adored the status quo, and that is what the establishment obviously wants to preserve.
Longtime activists here worry that reputation—and their ability to continue dominating South Carolina elections—will erode if the newcomers take control. Suzette Jordan, who has been a GOP activist in Greenville for three decades, said that those ousted have institutional knowledge and skills that have helped the party win elections and build influence. That, she says, seems to be lost on Stutts and his ilk...Smith, the longtime activist ousted in her home precinct, isn’t taking her defeat personally. “Hopefully,” she said of the people who replaced her, “they’ll all jump in and become great leaders and great spokesmen and be what we want the party to be.” Still, Smith can’t help but wonder about them. “I don’t have a history with them,” she said. “That makes me wonder, where have you been?”
For the first time in decades of involvement with the GOP, Smith will have more hours in the day to contemplate these questions. “I guess,” she said, “I’ll be spending more time in my garden this year.”
She's still going to the meetings, right?
Just because she was ousted doesn't mean she can't still make her institutional knowledge available to the new leaders, right?
She's not going to take her ball and go home, right?

doubtful. not like the purists and boycotters on FR that have already taken their ball and gone home.
Lara Trump wants to run for senate, this makes that very
likely.
Tea Party should hold a Tax Day protest against Biden’s tax
increase.
she’s identified as a local tea party leader, FFS. she ain’t establishment.
unless the cannibals are ready to oust them, too.
I’ve come to despise RINOs even more than leftist.
wrong carolina, I think.
The one thing I take away from the story is that those doing the party purging seem to be not attempting to see first who their natural allies are among the already organized Republicans. If what they do is just throw the baby out with the bathwater then they will hurt the party, not make it either more conservative or stronger. They will simply make “party loyalty” mean loyalty to a different set of people in charge, period.
Objection, article does not seem to list Ms. Smith as a Tea Party leader, but references someone else as that.
what’s funny is that the guy who posted this article criticizing the SC gop lives in MA.
seems like there is plenty of work to do there, if he’s feeling energetic.
I stand corrected. it’s the daily beast; not the best written article I’ve read.
” trade a party that works for people that are ideologically pure, but operationally and logistically incompetent”
we saw a lot of that with the folks who claimed to be trying to help Trump prove the election frauds.
Purity of ideas requires the additional attribute of professional competence in order to achieve organizational goals.
I know exactly what i want in a new house, but I’d hire an architect and a construction manager to get the job done right.
Point well spoken.
Been telling a lot of fools in the GOP.. the Trump base is NOT the GOP base...
You sat by and let an election be stolen. The Trump base will never support you again.. ever... and a lot of folks who were part of your GOP base an part of the Trump Base are lost to you now.
the SC gop is relatively high performing.
