The official Facebook page for the Star Wars movie franchise celebrated “Trans Day of Visibility” on Wednesday by unveiling the recently created characters Terec and Ceret, who are “trans non-binary Jedi Knights.”

“In honor of #TransDayOfVisibility,” the caption to the artwork reads, “we’re proud to unveil an exclusive cover highlighting Terec and Ceret, trans non-binary Jedi, currently featured in Marvel’s The High Republic comic. We support trans lives and we are passionate and committed to broadening our representation in a galaxy far far way.”

Stupid stuff. "Representation" is not storytelling. The personal real-life social and political agenda of the Leftists running Lucasfilm has nothing to do with telling the story of the "galaxy far far away" - and this is why Star Wars has gone to pot. No longer about telling a story - it's about furthering an agenda.

They hate the original Star Wars and everything it stood for.

In some parallel universe, this is an April Fool’s Day gag. In our universe, sadly, I’m guessing that it isn’t.

Fictional characters are not anything. They don’t exist. Non-existing things can’t be gay/bi/or whatever the hell else the crazies think of.

It is astounding how the whole country is being mobilized to "celebrate" something that was until recently considered a sign of mental unbalance and remained largely on the fringes.

It is now being mainstreamed, promoted, and put on a pedestal. This only makes sense as a sign of the increasingly demonic influence in our culture.

Disney went from killing Star Wars to now desecrating its corpse.

It used to be that this form of mental illness was a fraction of a percent of the population. Now, society is trying to actively encourage individuals to adopt this form of mental illness.

How can people be “trans” if there’s no “binary” construct allowing a switch from A to not-A?

"Fictional characters are not anything. They don’t exist. Non-existing things can’t be gay/bi/or whatever the hell else the crazies think of."

The fact that they don't literally exist doesn't mean that their creators can't describe them in a certain way. All fictional characters - from Sherlock Holmes to Superman to Gilligan - are whatever their creators say they are.

With the exception of Annakin Skywalker, all Jedi’s were forbidden from having relations with anyone or any thing. Therefore, all of the past Star Wars movies, the sexual and gender preference of the characters was not an issue.

So now they are going to make it an issue. If you remove the human characters, there was virtually now way to distinguish the gender of the non-human characters. For all we know, Chewy was a 7 foot tall dominant female...

Good point. I've thought something like that myself. After decades of feminists denying that there are any distinct differences between men and women - other than the obvious biological ones - something has shifted and we now hear this talk of gender as "binary," even if "binary" is only invoked to be rejected.

I have watched a number of YouTube videos complaining about how science fiction is going "woke". But SF has been woke for quite some time. Most SF authors are either liberal or left-libertarian. If they made most of their characters white heterosexual males it was only because at the time they wrote they knew their audience and did so in order to sell their material.

A lot of the fans of SF who grew up with it don't seem to have realized how woke most of SF was. Yes, there were the space cowboy stories that were not woke, but most of the classic SF authors were pushing leftist messages. H. G. Wells was a socialist. Clarke, Asimov, Herbert, etc. were all either leftist or left-libertarian and the messages from their books was anything but conservative.

So now that the characters are being switched out for people of different races, sexes, sexual orientations, and genders is probably something that the original authors would approve of.

If SF were true, then given the current fertility numbers most people traveling on spaceships in the future will be African, Indian, or Chinese. If SF were even truer then most people traveling on spaceships would be frankensteinian freaks with genetic mutations or cybernetic implants.

I've read SF books where they have to go out of their way to sideline AI so that the humans can actually go about as humans and engage in dramatic action. In the future, if we get true AI, then humans will be of little consequence. I really don't know how popular a series will be if all the main characters are spherical cyborgs that communicate via WiFi. All one has to note is the general distaste for the ending of the movie "AI" when the progeny of mankind show up to give the robot boy his Make-a-Wish.

The best critique of current SF are those channels that criticize the lack of good storytelling. Mr. Plinkett's review of the Star Wars prequels and David Stewart's critiques are great examples.

I don’t care, as long as they use their light sabers to slice and dice a lot of strange looking people and throw them off bridges and blow up planets.
