“Is that dementia?”
Yep. My neighbor had dementia. I used to sit and talk with him frequently. He was pretty good at reasoning with things he knew, or things he remembered well. His memory was really bad, but he could remember “the old days” quite well. I’d sit down, he’d as me what day it was. Then about 10 minutes later, same question. Not uncommon for him to ask 4 or 5 times. He was enjoyable to converse with, and occasionally would offer some interesting insights. But he wasn’t running the country, heck, he couldn’t even drive anymore, (he got lost too easily).
I’m no expert, but what I’ve seen of dementia is that it’s can be decline, not a total crash. The ability to reason isn’t always trashed, but mental quickness and memory are significantly impacted.
My uncle’s mom had Alzheimer’s, and her decline was drastic. She could still talk and still remember “the old days,” so I see your point.
It’s obvious that Biden’s juiced up, but I don’t think today’s spectacle is going to change any minds. It’s going to take an exceptionally bad, very public meltdown for people on the Left to start circling this wagons. This press conference wasn’t it.
My mom could remember things from the old days in pretty good detail... just don’t ask her what she had for breakfast. When things became more profound she had subtle ways of avoiding conversations and ‘covering’ when she couldn’t remember a name or face. Later on, she’d shut down when stressed. I don’t mean stress like you’d think, I mean “I’m a little tired” stress. Then she’d make it clear that she wanted to ‘go home’ to her room. Biden is reaching that last stage before becoming catatonic.
Ssame thing with my father. He can recite poetry he memorized in the 3rd grade but can’t recall if he ate breakfast.
I don't know; from this article it sure looks/sounds like a "crash" to me.
What are our enemies thinking after this "press conference"? What are our allies thinking after this "press conference"?
Dementia is a gradual and irreversible decline.
There are seven forms of it.
