The count increased faster (vertically) than the tally machines could feed and tally the votes.
That’s not how any of the systems work. What you see in those lines is not some magical central computer tallying votes in real time. Votes are reported by precinct and locality. Nothing is tallied “real time” in the sense you are thinking.
