Dementia is one of my main fears in terms old age and I expect a lot of other people too.
I have seen decline happen very quickly and it’s a horrible, debilitating disease.
My prayer is to be taken quietly but it’s a complete lottery.

Add to that, knowing nursing staffs have been decimated, and the remaining nurses are overworked and underpaid.
I'm really afraid to get anything checked out, because I'm not sure I'd survive a hospital stay, and I'd rather die at home than alone in a hospital bed.

This happened to my mom. She wass blind and deaf and after 5 days in HOSPICE I was locked out. She called for me night and day. And I cried for her night and day. I was able to spend the last 45 minutes of her life with her.
People willing gave up their rights to live, breathe and worship because they were afraid of catching the covid and dying. DUMB A.S.S. MF’ers. Your fear caused my mom to suffer.

skip to the 8 minute mark, first part is Brewer relating his experience with covid.
I tried to fight back. My mom’s hospice facility would have served me with a restraining order and when my dad was dying, his facility was going to call the police on me.
I needed access to my dad. I could only push so much.
Now I’m looking for a lawyer. And they know it.
He spent the last few months of his life not knowing where he was and never saw his family again, which is heartbreaking. Probably even part of his rapid decline was the isolation from his loved ones. He also died 2 weeks after his covid vaccination.

What happened to our senior family members was criminal. At least I had 10 extra years with my folks. (died at 89)
I think we family members need to keep talking about this, let the world know exactly what happened. And hopefully come to peace with the all the suffering.

Whatever happened to the days when people in families lived together and cared for their parents?
This family member in assisted living tested positive for the virus... twice. She is not in good health but she thought she just had a cold.. was not sick. No one was around her but the people who work there.
Her daughters did not tell her she tested positive .. she is a worrier... but evidently not everyone has a hard reaction to it..even with bad health.
In fact my son has a son on the basketball team and the whole team tested positive and were quarantined. My son..his wife and their younger son got it also.. all tested positive..and none of the 4 were sick.. felt bum and like a cold... for 5 days. thats all..
The mother.in.law was in their house with last stage of cancer. she either had a very light case or none at all.

A little over 2+ weeks ago, my wife’s middle brother age 80 supposedly had a massive stroke with an off the wall diagnosis.
He was becoming a total basket case, being in the icu 24/7. He got to a step down unit, and his wife got his new anti seizure drugs removed and old drugs put back on.
As soon as he could make phone calls to my wife, a brother and his wife who is an RN like my wife. He said that if he was going to die, he wanted to do it at home.
His wife told the ICU people to get him ready to go home.
They agreed and got him stabilized, and he was taken home by ambulance.
The hospital has followed up with the home care treatment, and his response has been excellent.
Two days ago he called my wife and talked to her via his cell phone. He sounded as good as he had before the stroke. Then, he and I talked, and I joked that if he didn’t do what his wife and PT people said. His sister, my wife, aka Nurse Ratchet, would fly back and kick his butt.
We feel if he had not demanded to come home, he would have died with a new stroke or complications.
To the credit of the staff from Drs. to their home care people, once he made the decision to come home. They supported him then and at home.
The whole family adults of all ages have reviewed their DNR orders and other standing orders to pull the plug if necessary, aka end of life wishes/orders. Also your designated care/decision maker needs to be in contact.
The official end of life requests are called POLSTS aka Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST),
Your family doc, and other providers need a current copy.
We have copies on our refrigerator and in my wife’s purse, our go bags and in the glove compartments of our cars.
Our trust lawyer has signed copies.
I am so glad to hear your BIL is making a good recovery.
Hospitals are very worrisome places these days.
They/their main ICU did a good job the first 3 days. Then, he seemed be forgotten in their step down ICU. Fortunately his wife contacted her sister a RN, and 2 SIL’s RN’s including my wife, and they agreed that he needed to get out of the hospital and come home.
Again, the staff did a good job on his discharge and setting up his at home therapies. His at home post stroke therapies have been excellent.
He is able to dial long distance and able to carry on good conversations with the person or family he wanted to talk to.
They don’t stop me, nor does anyone else. I refuse to play these retarded games.
Barb.. You have my deepest condolences. I understand loved ones are powerless to fight these institutions by themselves. Lawmakers, law enforcers and Media should be standing up for families rights.
