The Wall Street Journal, owned by billionaire Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., is banning its reporters from using the term “illegal immigrant” and “illegal” to refer to illegal aliens living in the United States.
This week, in an update its style guide, the Journal states that while it will allow reporters to continue using the term “illegal immigration” to describe the process of illegal aliens arriving and staying in the U.S., it will no longer permit reporters to describe individuals as “illegal” or “illegal immigrant” in an effort to stop “labeling people.”

The media was doing this before Trump. The Wall St. Journal hated Trump’s immigration policies and wanted Hillary and Biden to win over him.

Remember the old days when we thought that the Wall Street Journal was a patriotic, pro-America, pro-Strong economy publication???
That is fine, the correct legal term is “illegal alien”.
Are they allowed to be described as what they are... “people who are in the country illegally”?
What do they mean by “stop labeling people”? Isn’t calling them “undocumented workers” labeling them? Isn’t just calling them ‘immigrants’ labeling them?
And does this only refer to Hispanics? Isn’t Hispanic a label? What if they’re Asian and here illegally?
Aren’t the terms, American, French, Japanese, black, white, unemployed, racist, labels?
I mean “stop labeling people” meaning not using adjectives ?
Illegal aliens all around. 👽
If reporters mess up, the copy editors will catch it.

Correct. When I visit the US, I am an alien. Lawfully admitted, but still an alien in the eyes of the law, and defined as such in the US Code.
An immigrant is one lawfully admitted for the purposes of staying.
They’re redefining the meaning of words in order to manipulate.
Why do we even bother to read the “news” anymore? It’s about the same as reading Pravda and Izvestia from the old Soviet Union days.
Just another example of why I canceled my subscription after 30+ years.
Don’t want to label people? Stop calling yourselves journalists, then.
I’ve always thought that “wetback” has a nice ring to it.
I see the word “migrant” a lot
So what should they call illegal aliens? Border Walker zombies?
