I’ve wondered if they would continue to have it be “The Rush Limbaugh Show” in name with a new host. “This is the Rush Limbaugh Show - this is your host, [host name]”
That seems like a good idea to me, too. It's uncharted territory because no one with a titled show of this stature has passed while still in the heyday (that I can think of).
Look for each of the individual stations to move other popular shows into the 12Est. slot. EIB can’t realistically continue unless it’s moved to evenings for those stations that want to continue the historical legacy, but I doubt that would work.
Prager is the only host I’m aware of that chose to go head to head with Rush. Levin, Hannity refused to compete with him and its likely that any potential “replacements” would have to move their slots to 12Est, at which point they lose their current audience and assume the role as “Rush’s replacement”, which none of them would want to do.
It’s a dilemma for broadcasters.
The EIB network will lose its advertising appeal in the near future. There is no better than Rush! His presence is NO match on radio. I have not heard anyone on the radio or his sub hosts, in conservative format that is even close to him.
Who will accept the Rush radio time slot and legacy? In my humble opinion, it will be years. Will require a person of thick skin and no apologetics!
