I remember as a kid I’d get my bottom reddened if I caused trouble at school. If the teacher said I did something wrong, it was gospel. There was never a conversation.

Parenting is dead. They’ve handed it over to digital assistants. Kids commiserate with their peers, leading to an echo chamber of insubordination, and suddenly there’s a discipline issue. Amazing.

I agree! I hear about things that young kids and young adults are doing, even the riots, looting, arson, etc. I keep saying even if I did that NOW, I am in my 70s, my 94 year old mother would march to my house and blister my butt! My folks always said, “Whatever you get at school, you will get twice as bad at home” Never got paddled. I was so afraid of my folks. This is called RESPECT for elders! If I had behaved like today’s misbehaving kids, I would still be unable to SIT down!!!!!!!!! My butt would still be BLISTERED.

My expectations were the same. If I got in trouble at school, there was even bigger trouble when I got home.

But back then, the expectations of the parents regarding what their kids were being taught didn’t encompass things like social justice, economic justice, systemic racism, America=bad, pro-socialism, pro-communism, transgenderism, homosexuality, pointing fingers and waving a breakfast pastry that looks vaguely like a gun being called ‘gun violence’, and so on.

Not only has there been a lapse in parenting accountability but there has been a tremendous failing in how public schools operate and how they tend to indoctrinate rather than educate.
