Several manufacturers including Freightline have electric semis on the road right now.
They are , however they are the saner ones. The actual real genuine fools are those who elected those fools in the first place. It has spread Nationwide and will continue until there is a negative price to pay for their stupidity.
And, did it all through the "pandemic". They call a lot of people "essential" workers nowadays; but, I don't think I have ever seen the word "truckers" on that list. They were very essential during the government lock-downs.
