All this extra power won’t be free, either way I don’t even care. It’s going to be sucking back lng like it’s water in the desert. It’s a big win for us here.

I need 4 wheel drive and the ability to haul 1000 pounds while pulling 14,000 pounds

Some comments seem to forget there is quite a lot of the workforce between EV’s and and 18 wheelers

So, the government and the car manufacturers are deciding for us how much we should drive in a day? and into what areas, where charging may not be available?

Are they also going to decide for us what ALL the actual needs of our personal lives should be, and how they should be managed?

Why do you think Biden is doing everything he can to make gas prices skyrocket? If gas prices stay low, or at medium levels, no one has an incentive to buy EV’s, But if the cost of gas goes up to $5.00+ it will be like the 70’s when people were flocking to 4-6 cylinder engines.

No kidding. I occasionally haul several thousand pounds of equipment....I’m trying to imagine doing that with a battery powered vehicle.

“Yes, it’s doable, but for you to say “20 minutes” to get going again is a joke.” Present fast charging stations are 62.5 kw. The standards are written to allow up to 900 kw in the future.

At 900 kw an average EV would charge in seven minutes.

charging stations are just not there to support widespread average people having even one of their cars, be an electric car.

its increasing, but not at a pace to keep up even if the number of electric vehicles doubles in a year. then there is also a finite amount of lithium and cobalt that exists annually, for all producers of lithium battery devices tap into.

And as long as there are slaves to dig up the metals for the batteries, until the metals run out. Then substitutes will be found.

“So even though our grid is outdated and we lack new electrical generating facilities, charging 40 million electric vehicles is no problem as long as it’s done at night?”

I bet you were predicting we would run. out of oil by 1975?

We wouldn’t have EV’s if it weren’t for government mandates and subsidies. The electric vehicle argument was finally settled in the early 20’s when Studebaker was the last manufacturer to give it up.

“All this extra power won’t be free,”. But a lot cheaper than gasoline!

As one who understands power generation and the grid, good luck.

[[But for rest of us, we go to work and then when we come home, we plug in the EV to the power grid so it will be fully charged in the morning.]]

Question is, what is the electric bill gonna be compared to gasoline bill per month?

I would guess eventually these leftist will allow for a limited number of permits for people who must use reliable ICE vehicles which can haul heavier loads, in bad terrain, frigid or extreme hot temps. Same with ICE RV’s, they too will need special use permits that will cost big $$. Trying to imagine a family of 5 taking the electric powered motor-home on a 4,000 mile vacation up into the mountains etc....

Lol!

Not even remotely close, but don’t let that stop anyone. All the EV drivers will make me rich. Well, at least until they just shut you down because your social score is too low. You’re at their mercy 100%.

Recharging should be cheaper per mile at 10 cents/Kw-HR. That’s not the problem. The real problem is the TIME it takes to recharge.

In many parts of the US the power grid is stretched to the limit due to a variety of “Green initiatives” that have crippled it.

The reality is we need less electricity use, not more.
