The Left wants the ERA so that its gains will be Constitutionalized. The Left knows a major backlash is coming that would wipeout all its wins since at least the '70s. The ERA becoming the 28th Amendment is one of the ways to prevent this long overdue reversal (e.g., by preventing the SCOTUS overruling Roe v. Wade and Obergefell v. Hodges).
