Last year, my SIL went into a SF Walgreens to purchase aspirin. On inquiring why the shelves were bare, he was told that the shoplifters come in with calculators, take up to $950 in merchandise, and calmly walk out. Often, a fence is waiting outside to buy the stolen goods for pennies on a dollar from the perps, who promptly walk back into the store with calculator in hand, to do some more “shopping.”
