I think a Reagan/Bush pact was required of Trump to get the GOPe machine to be willing to play politics with Trump. Lying Ryan and Mikey Pence were thicker than thieves, and surely hoped to hold office they literally could never win, but, had 'power' over the 'power' brokers that ran the GOPe.
