My objection to you is that in many of your posts, you have seemed to possess a distinctly anti-Trump edge. Trump is the best president we’ve had in my lifetime and has done the most good for US than any president I’ve seen has ever done in one term.
(And yes, I am interested in grammar. Words and language MEAN things; and when we use them in public, we are setting an example.)
I agree that Trump was a great president but he was not perfect. Far from it. And one of his flaws, pride, is a very destructive thing and I believe ultimately let us to where we are today.
Siding with the left on gay marriage, and having your wife come out right before the election to announce it to the public, is telling God you know more than him. And that will never work out good for anyone.
I’ve never seen nor heard of a ‘perfect’ president.
And I’ve never seen a political campaign that didn’t necessitate at least a little bit of ‘pandering’ to interest groups.
And what if Melania really believed this? Would you want her to lie, or her husband to ‘shut her up’? What if Trump actually believed it? Would that make him any less the great President that he was?
Melania has lived and worked in a field where she probably encountered many gay people, heard their stories, and had sympathy with them and their situations. I doubt you have that same viewpoint or understand it.
I personally dislike the concept of ‘gay marriage’, but I have no problem with gay people ‘jumping the broom’ in some legal way. It’s healthier and better for them - as it is for everyone and society - to be in a committed, monogamous, long-term union.
Marriage and family are the foundation of a sane society. This is one issue where there should be no pandering. I don’t want to criminalize homosexuality. I said before, consenting adults can do what they want. But God created and defined marriage. Just doesn’t work if you tell me you follow God and at the same time are fine with gay marriage. There is by definition no such thing. And please look at this thread if you want to see where pandering to this particular sin has led:

Well, part of my post suggested that perhaps Melania truly felt that way - and for all you and I know, Trump does, too.
If so, would those be reasons for a sane, conservative person to have refused to elect him and foregone the practical and ideological benefit of his influence over the past five years?
I’m very glad we had Trump - and still have him. The things he has gotten absolutely correct have had great effect, and will continue to have. Every day, his success on the national stage makes Biden look more and more like a complete bungler.
