City cops take orders from politicians and have been ordered to stand down. That is what led to the initial confrontation between the feds/oregon state police, and the local politicians. Toss in here that the local DA refused to prosecute ANTIVA/BLM violent activists who actually assaulted law enforcement officers.

Many, a great many, of the LEO’s employed by the city of Portland are gone. The first to go were those officers who had enough time in to retire. There was a big flushing sound as they retired taking all of that experience, knowledge, and maturity with them. The lower ranks within the department with a few years of experience just found and took other LEO jobs with other agencies outside of the Portland area. Portland can not find qualified people who want to work in that politician constructed cop hating environment and are running very short handed on cops and extremely short handed on experienced cops.
The cops in Portland would love to do their jobs but would be in direct violation of standing orders from both their mayor and governor if they enforced long standing existing laws that pertain to the destruction of public and private property and simple assaults.
At the same time, know this, if you are an upstanding citizen and attacked by one or more of these ANTIFA/BLM TERRORIST ANIMALS, and defend yourself you will be arrested and charged with a violent crime. If you are in that area of Portland with any kind of weapon that can be used to defend yourself, the DA takes that as proof that you are the instigator and there to start and cause the encounter.
If you are not ANTIFA/BLM YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE THERE AND NO RIGHT TO VOICE YOUR OPINION.
