Actually that distinct honor goes to Spain.

In the late 19th century, the Spanish army created “reconcentration” camps in its war against Cuban independence - hundreds of thousands perished in the “Cuban Holocaust”.

Many more Cubans would have perished if the United States hadn't kicked Spain out of Cuba as a result of the Spanish-American War.

True to form, leftist historians ignore Spanish atrocities in Cuba, the Philippines and elsewhere, while painting the Spanish-American War as the mean ol’ US picking on poor little Spain in order to expand its empire.

Getting involved in the world was the beginning of the end for the British Empire as its involvement in World War I which they dragged us into in part with propaganda saying that German soldiers tossed Belgian babies into bayonets.

The US Army was 16-thousand strong at the start of the Spanish-American War.

We got involved in the World to replace the British Empire and that is part of our downward trend.
