My favorite Brother in Law went from Deputy, to Officer then to Detective in our County. He was moved to Detective because he was a good cop, and I swear because he refused to write seat belt violations and other nit picky things.
We were shooting the bull one afternoon, while I showed him my 66 F250 I turned into a work truck. I hadn’t used it yet, because of no license illumination. He didn’t believe the number of reasons I had been ticketed in the past, including no plate light.
Now he is the lead investigator for the State Welfare and Medical division. Busting real criminals who are making BANK on our dime. He could not play the tax man role cops are hired to fill.
I cop bud said he’d hardly ever wrote speeding tickets simply because he hated being a hypocrite.
He told me about “choir practice”. It’s when they all got together, got wasted t a party and just drove home like it was nothing.
“Savior.” If you didn’t have a savior in the PD, your days were numbered.
Cops stealing: from fireworks that they confiscate, guns, drugs, you name it. He went to a reported business burglary and when he showed up, cops were loading TVs into their cruisers. He told the chief, chief says to his sergeant, what did you see. Sarge says nothing happened. Chief says your boss is always right. Nothing happened.
It’s more corrupt than most people are willing to believe. He said most good cops are out within a few years because of either that can’t stomach what they see their brothers do or they don’t get their “savior.”
