I have been known to call them tax collectors through my driver side window. Needless to say, if I am pulled over I get a ticket EVERY time. I went to court three times for seatbelt violations. I fought every time, using logic and the “not governments job” to keep me belted in. I have never been caught riding without a helmet yet, of course most of my riding is not on city streets or hiways.

I’m no liberal/prog by any stretch of the imagination but I do agree that the police need major reform in this country.
They have too much power and they too often at times abuse it.
I think there is going to be a rights awakening soon in this country. People just don’t understand their right when dealing with them. The way I see it is that they are not there to help you, they are there only to enforce the law.

Kids should be taught in school or home on how to deal with them. People just assume that you have to obey their every command whether it’s furnishing ID, answering questions (which they use to build their case against you) and so much more.

Every encounter should be recorded by both parties.

The qualified immunity part should be the first thing to go. Start holding these officers accountable and the BS will eventually subside. Fire those who violate rights, lock those up who abuse their power and we’ll all be better off.

My best bud was a cop for 17 years in the DC area and some of his stories will make you lose all faith in the PD; it’s downright frightening.
