An estimated 5.6 percent of Americans identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, according to a new Gallup report. That’s up from 4.5 percent in 2017, the last year polling on the issue was conducted by the organization.
Of those surveyed who identified as LGBTQ, 54.6 percent identified as bisexual, 24.5 percent as gay, 11.7 percent as lesbians, 11.3 percent as transgender and 3.3 percent said they used another term to describe their identity (i.e. queer or same-gender loving). The total exceeds 100 percent because respondents were able to choose more than one category.
The results were based on more than 15,000 interviews conducted with adults 18 and older throughout 2020.
The percent of Americans who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer increased 60 percent between 2012 and 2020, according to Gallup.
Younger Americans are increasingly likely to consider themselves part of the LGBTQ community: Nearly 16 percent of Generation Z, those 18 to 23 in 2020, consider themselves something other than heterosexual. That compares to just 2 percent of Americans 56 and older.

Gay and Lesbian: 36% of 5.6% = 1.7%. At the tail end of the AIDS crisis, when AIDS had killed about 1 million Americans (0.3% of population), this figure was about 1.3%. So the gay and Lesbian population barely grew at all. The explosion is in the bisexual population, which show by far the higher rates of other psychological dysfunctions.
The gay bashing out here is frustrating.
POLITICS ASIDE, some people whether you like it or not were not born 100% heterosexual.
It is a fact.
The shutdown has halted the need for daily “code switching” so more of the hidden community are freer to self express which I believe is behind the numbers.
You want to scream “I’m straight” go ahead, but some are not and it’s ignorant to suggest they don’t exist or are mentally ill.
They are exactly as God made them.
SO we have to turn society on its head to please 5.6% of the population?
If those are real numbers, I bet the bulk of the volume is from high school girls trying to get attention.

And 50% of thsoe 5.6 claim to be bisexual.
When did 2% of the public get to dictate policy to 98% via corporations and media (where their represencation is over 10x that)?
25% of people in the USA, about 80 Million, are using psychiatric drugs for mental illness. Certified mentally ill.
This 5.6 percent is just one quarter of the 80 Million.
I wish they were, but I now have a niece and the children of 3 friends that now identify as trans. I lost count on the lesbians. This is really destroying Gen Xers. Very sad and disturbing trend.
Yeah, but what sane person wants to date one of those “things”?
Since con artists like Rachel Dolezal faked that she was black for financial gain and Elizabeth Warren did the same as a Native America, how many others will claim LGBTQ for financial gain?
There's also the question of how many of these people are LGBTQ involuntarily as they're better defined as Desperasexuals since they'll take whatever they can get.
And I’m more straight than ever.
If you’re a man you can call yourself a lesbian, and a woman can call herself gay.
They are exactly as God made them.

The Lefts communistic plan, laid out decades ago, to systematically corrode the Christian based american culture. Destroy the traditional family structure. Destroy marriage. Normalize sexual deviancy. The democrats, the media, the education system are all on board to turn this country communist. They’ll use the youth like pawns, subjecting them to believe a false reality, and then blame conservatives when the manipulated are unfulfilled and angry.
At my two most recent former employers, both government contractors, if you were an alphabet person, they would overlook almost any flaw to avoid firing or laying you off. There was one lesbian, so unpleasant almost no one would talk to her unless they had to, who was finally involuntarily committed. But she had survived two layoffs unscathed. (She had a bumper sticker reading, “I’m a lesbian. Get over it.”)
As a side note, anytime my companies laid off, many of the affected people felt they had been personally targeted, which may or may not be true. But I suspect that generally speaking, getting laid off feels personal even if it isn’t. Therefore, if you could somehow find black or Hispanic ancestry, or you were an alphabet person, the people thus identifying themselves may feel it’s an additional protection from being targeted for layoff. At least that was the feeling at those two companies. In any large layoff, you could clearly see that the targeted people were largely, or even exclusively white, hetero males. (’Cause, white privilege, I guess.)

...not all gays are pedophiles. What 2 consenting adults do in their bedroom is none of my concern. Pedos are a different story.
Exactly. Its a fad. The cool thing to do. And the road to self loathing and depression.
