I don’t think it was “one of the group members”, I think it was Twitter, Inc. that leaked the text messages to the NY Times. Not likely a neighbor in Houston had NY Times contacts ...

If Twitter has a censorship bureau, you can be damned well sure they do other things that nation states do, and that is spy on their politicians. There is no way that twitter isn’t politically active in censorship and not politically active in spying.

Pretty much every NYT article online has contact info for the reporter--their email, Twitter, or whatever. It's not real hard to find who is on the Cruz story and send them info.
