Michael Steele has been vocal in his reservations about Trump
This week, former chair of the Republican National Committee Michael Steele has made it clear that he would have no problem with vocal Trump supporters leaving the GOP altogether to organize an entirely new political party.
“You’ve got the national [Republican] leadership making their way down to Mar-a-Lago [Trump’s residence in Florida] to confer with Trump,” Steele pointed out Monday morning during a segment on MSNBC. The former GOP leader praised Republican Representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois for taking a stand against the former president’s movement.

Trump got more of the Black vote w/o steele than the GOP got with Steele, hmmm
Steele was/is a nerver Trumper and always was. If I remember right, he also voted for Obama so Steele is hardly someone to tell other Republicans what to do.
Never forget that he ONLY got the RNC job because of Affirmative Action - it was the RNC response to Obama being sworn-in a week earlier, in 2009.
He was (and is) a disaster. Something to consider when being pushed to use AA types.
Steele is dreaming. RINOs like him are the ones who need to leave. This is Trump’s party now.
Why should 95% of the party leave?
That is retarded
Maybe the 5% of GOPee Bush, Romney and Never Trumpers should leave and create their own loser party
We should not give up our party to the minority because they don’t want us
We should push them out and tell them all to f themselves, politely
Two word response that begins with “F” and ends with “u”
Trump got more of the Black vote w/o steele than the GOP got with Steele, hmmm
Not disagreeing with you, but I believe pandering for the black vote was a waste of our time and resources.
I have no problem putting up a strong candidate in predominantly black urban areas to give them a choice in the election. I believe we should never give the dems unopposed seats. However nationally the pander a thon for black votes by Trump was disgusting and I believe it cost him blue collar white male votes.
It was another Trap that President Trump fell for
When was the last time Michael Steele voted for a Republican?
Decades ago.
He was a token - which proves why tokens and other false picks are a mistake.
Yep, it never pays off, but his great economy made it an easy sale for the thoughtful Blacks who wanted job opportunities and understood conservative economics.
Sorry buddy, but if the party is to succeed, they need to reflect the values of the people they want to represent.
We’ve had three decades of “lesser evil” elections, which is the sort of election this man seems comfortable with, and we’ve scraped bottom. The jobs are gone, we have no privacy, and there are Chinese spies all over the place. Its time to change course.
Mr. Steele,
I’ll be voting against my RINO congress critter in the general if he isn’t primaried out.
We make them leave.
But easy to confuse with a stool.
They want us to leave. They only represent 3% of the GOP. We make them leave.
Steel was the ‘guilty white conservative elite’ choice.
It was shameful... there’s no more real way to say ‘I’m a racist’ than to vote for a black person because they’re black. (Same with voting for a white person because they’re ‘white’.) Steel didn’t prove the point we weren’t racist - he proved the point our conservative elites WERE guilty white conservative racists...
Steel’s appointment proved our ‘elites’ are almost as bad as white liberal ‘elites’... One in six black men voted for Trump. They’re with us... Steel was NEVER with us... he played his race card for advantage. Period.
They were going to vote Trump anyways
Now if Trump gained 40% of the black vote, he would be president today, and his efforts would have paid off
But that didn’t happen, he got a 3 point bump, big freakin deal
It also tells us that no amount of pandering is going to help us with that voting block
We are better of ignoring it
Or presenting the issues that would appeal to them in a non racial context, like school choice, jobs, economic freedom, stuff like that, like he did in 2016
Honestly he should have stayed to his all American 2016 campaign, Trump rarely talked about race, but the issues, I think that helped him more because even though the militant commie blacks think about everything under the lens of race, there are still a lot of blacks who don’t believe everything is racial and want to be spoken to as an American, not as a black man. There is a big difference in that approach.
I hated Trump’s 2020 campaign of everything is about race, it sucked and I believe it chased away a lot of blue collar voters only to gain a couple points of black voters. It was dumb
Don’t disagree, he may have thought it would help with “diversity” moms, but it hurt there as well.
He’s a not-so-secret demonrat, of course he’d love for conservative voters to get lost.
The problem with race is that he isn’t going to attract the militants who think everything is about race.
If he stayed in on his 2016 message of including all in his speeches, he would have done better. Majority of Americans want to look beyond skin color, only the radicals think everything is about race. However this small minority is very vocal and their skreed gets printed or published online all the time. So some people think it is problem, even though they themselves have never witnessed it, ever.
Instead of talking about race, he should have talked about school choice, that is an issue that is big in the inner city and also in rural and suburban areas as well, not all rural and suburban areas are wealthy with great schools. Failing schools exist in those areas as well.
Problem is Trump allowed the democrats define the 2020 election, and of course, they are going to pick race and inequality, minimum wage to be the issues they can win on.
Trump should have made it early about School Choice, like he did in 2016 about immigration and American Jobs. 2016 was about immigration and American jobs, and he won by making it the issue, if Hillary would have made 2016 about race, minimum wage and inequality, she would have won. But she was lazy and allowed Trump to define the 2016 issues.
