WATCH: Merrick Garland Declines to Say He Will Keep Special Counsel John Durham

Judge Merrick Garland, President Joe Biden’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, declined to say on Monday whether he would retain Special Counsel John Durham in his role investigating the origins of the “Russia collusion” investigation.

Former Attorney General William Barr quietly elevated Durham to Special Counsel last fall, before the presidential election, to preserve his work in a potential new administration. Barr had previously said that he believed there may have been improper political motivations behind the FBI’s launch of Operation Hurricane Crossfire into Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016. One FBI lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, pleaded guilty to misleading the FISA court to obtain a warrant.

Ranking Member Chuck Grassley (R-IA) asked Garland whether he would retain Durham, noting that Barr, in his own confirmation, committed explicitly to allowing Special Counsel Robert Mueller to continue the “Russia collusion” inquiry.

A leak to the NY Post...or to Free Republic...would do the trick. Even if it was only up for a few minutes someone could save the pdf (or Word document) and then the fun would begin. Twitter would ban it as "hacked"...like they did with the hard drive.

And then another bit of fun would be for someone to leak the FBI documents on Hunter.

If Durham wanted to hurt Trump, all he has to do is fold up shop and say “did find nuthin”, and that is that. For so e reason, he hasn’t. Why?

He’s making good money doing nothing?

Who cares at this point! Nothing will come of it other than a big waste of money we don’t have.

I am inclined to agree with you. At the same time, I cannot help but notice that Kavanaugh and Coney seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth.

Why did we work so hard to get them on the bench?

Garland will drop Durham like a rock. They can’t risk any damage to crooked Lberals.

Durham is doing nothing, nothing.
Barr would not have appointed an honest man, he appointed a ‘swamp’ creature.
Durham has already done his job which was to keep the ‘peasants’ away from Barr’s door until Trump was gone.
Whenever I hear ‘Durham’ I think ‘theater’...and Grassley know it.

“I like you, I respect you, and I think you are a good pick for this job,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, early in a Monday hearing with the Senate Judiciary Committee. Grassley is the top Republican on the committee.

“I think you’re a very good pick for this job,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who previously served as Judiciary chairman.
